Scytl pilota las primeras elecciones municipales por voto electrónico en Noruega

Scytl, in partnership with EDB Ergo Group, has successfully carried out the first electronic municipal elections in Norway. Within the framework of the “E-vote 2011-project” from the Norwegian Government, 10 municipalities offered their early voters to choose between traditional paper-based voting or Internet voting. From the 22% of the early voters, who had a 30-day-period before the election day to cast their vote, 73% decided to cast their vote electronically. In total, considering the overall voting period, 16.6% of the votes were cast electronically. Electronic votes were tallied 15 minutes after the closing of the voting period whereas several hours were needed to tally the paper ballots. This is the first time Norway implements electronic voting in binding public electoral processes. Considering the success of this project, the Norwegian Parliament will debate on the rollout of the Internet voting system for further nationwide elections.
